Satish Allen has been an integral part of New England Revolution’s recent run, scoring four goals in one of the standout outings of the year by the team. However, Allen’s ability to contribute from the bench makes him a much needed option for a roster that may struggle to find consistent minutes.

Braylon Anrow, who is known for his attacking prowess, has been a revelation for Columbus Crew SC, scoring 17 goals in only 20 appearances. However, that hasn’t translated on the pitch – Anrow will need to be more consistent if the Crew SC is to continue to succeed on the field.

Marek Hamsik won’t be able to get the job done on the wing for DC United next season due to the arrival of French goalkeeper Eric Wolff. That could mean that DC can opt to add an attacking midfielder, or at the very least, add someone in reserve.

There are other areas in need of improvement. Forward Bobby Boswell made a lot of noise during the preseason as a solid option in goal for the club. The USMNT veteran hasn’t been able to produce at a high level as of yet, but a full season behind the scenes is crucial for Boswell to have any chance at making the final roster.

However, the fact is that the Columbus Crew SC has a roster full of potential additions – a big step toward a final MLS playoff push in 2017.

Looking at it just from a point of view of the depth chart, Columbus Crew SC has four players who could be considered first-team regulars, and only three who have the potential for playing regularly in the future. Add in the amount of injuries that Crew SC has suffered in the past two years, and that leaves some room for the club to add quality depth.

The club should look to replace Mike Grella, who signed with the Philadelphia Union last week, while also looking to add a playmaking, scoring option and someone to fill the hole left by Matt Lampson.
